Apple is not the greatest in supporting what it considers to be old hardware and software. I think any upgrades you may have wished for iMovie8 would have required payment, but Apple pulls anything except the newest versions from its site. Olds ambassador flute serial numbers. Now that they have gone to downloads only it puts users of older software in a real mess because it isn't like when you used to be able to go out and find old installer discs. I am not sure when iLife stopped being issued on discs and maybe if you're lucky you can find something like iMovie 9 (if such a thing exists) on a used installer disc. Of course then there's still the question if it is new enough to handle what you need for YouTube. Your ultimate answer may be to buy a newer computer so you can download the current iMovie.
